A father, who threatened to kill a woman and violently dragged her across the floor of a unit, has been jailed after his “uncontrollable rage” at her home south of Brisbane.

The Slacks Creek man pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on May 19 to six breaches of domestic violence, dangerous driving and breach of probation.

The court heard the father of four attended his ex-partner’s home in Slacks Creek on December 21 last year before going on a violent rage, smashing crockery, dishes, throwing clothing and yelling at the woman.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Kay told the court the man said “I’ll punch your head in, I’ll kill you, you f***ing s**t”.

The court heard the man then grabbed the woman by her arms and dragged her across the floor of her unit, continuing to verbally abuse her before stealing her bank card, the court was told.

“(The man) overpowered the aggrieved, and dragged her by the arms through the unit,” Sergeant Kay said.

Sergeant Kay also told the court the victim felt pain in both her arms but was uninjured.

The court also heard the defendant then drove from the property and spent $200 of the woman's money before returning the card to her.

Sergeant Kay also told the court the man was also seen driving recklessly from Beenleigh to Tanah Merah in January, where he sped along the Pacific Motorway while also weaving in and out of traffic and failing to stop at red lights.

“That was objectively dangerous and you were putting other people at risk,” Magistrate Louise Shepherd said.

According to the defence the man regretted his decision.

“He tells me he has been trying to do better,” his lawyer said.

The defendant was convicted and received three months jail, suspended for 12 months, for one count of dangerous driving and was disqualified from driving for six months.

He also received three months imprisonment for six counts of contravention of domestic violence orders, suspended for 12 months.
