Four Warwick men have been charged with almost 90 offences including burglary, arson, and meth-related crimes over an alleged months-long spate of break-ins at rural properties across the area.

Police claim the group targeted a number of properties to the west and north of Warwick between March and July this year, sweeping from Rosenthal Heights up to Massie, Allora, and Clifton during the spree.

Warwick CIB Detective Sergeant Glen Roche said the four men, aged 21, 27, 21, and 29, were predominantly striking sheds and outbuildings on rural properties and making off with “what they could get their hands on”.

He said motorbikes, vehicles, and tools were among the most commonly stolen items.

“Our concerns are in all of the offending across the board, but especially the three or four properties where firearms have been stolen,” Detective Sergeant Roche said.

“We haven’t been able to recover those firearms as yet.”

He said the men were also charged with a string of drug offences, all of which were connected to amphetamines or ‘ice’.

The four Warwick men now face a combined 88 charges including burglary, break and enter, unlawful use of motor vehicles, arson of motor vehicles, and drug-related offences.

Three of the four have been released on bail to live in Warwick, Brisbane, and Caloundra respectively, while the fourth is remanded in custody.

Detective Sergeant Roche said more people were expected to be charged as the lengthy investigation continued.

“Officers from the Major and Organised Crime (Rural) are assisting with patrols of areas in the Southern Downs and Toowoomba Regional Council areas,” he said.

“Property owners are urged to remain vigilant, keep an eye on their neighbours’ properties, and report suspicious behaviour to police.

“Ensure sheds are locked where possible and secure firearms.”
