Emergency services were called to the scene at Kilcoy-Beerwah Rd at Stanmore, near Beerwah, about 1pm on Sunday, October 1.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said an initial investigation showed a horse truck driven by a 75-year-old Ellangowan man struck the driver’s side of an SUV, driven by a 40-year-old Royston woman, causing the SUV to go off-road and roll.

The truck hit trees and the drivers of both vehicles were trapped and cut out by emergency services.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the man suffered serious head and chest injuries, and was in a critical condition when he was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

He remained in hospital, the police spokeswoman said.

The woman, also in a serious condition with chest injuries, was rushed to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

A third patient, a 39-year-old Royston man who was a passenger in the SUV, was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital with foot and chest injuries.
