Police have urged residents to come forward with any information about a string of break-ins in Murgon on Monday night.
Three separate properties were targeted between 2:30am and 4:30am, with the first house hit in Stephens Street East about 2:30am.
Police said the occupants of the house woke up after hearing someone trying to break in.
The thieves were not able to break in and nothing was stolen.
About 30 minutes later, at 3am in Palmer Street, residents woke up to “the house shaking”.
After looking out their window, they saw their car being driven out the driveway. The thieves struck a support beam for the veranda and crashed into a parked car before fleeing on foot.
Police said there was substantial damage to the house and cars.
An hour later, between 4am and 4:30am, someone tried to break in through a secured front door of a home in Stephens Street East but was unsuccessful.
Two weeks ago, Murgon residents were hit by another crime wave over four days, where multiple homes were broken into and cars stolen.
One of the victims’ handbags, containing car keys had been left in a vehicle that was subsequently stolen.
“Keys should not be left in plain sight and in no circumstances should they be left within vehicles,” police said.
It is unknown if any of the crimes were related.
Police have asked the residents in the affected areas to review their CCTV footage and contact police if they have information that may help investigators.
Residents can do so anonymously via the Crime Stoppers website or by calling 1800 333 000.
