Nanango State School has reportedly been the target of multiple offences, including property damage, theft and a break-in over the Christmas holidays.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said three people broke into a classroom on Christmas Day just before 4pm.

“No one was physically injured, and no property was damaged or stolen during the incident.

“Three children, aged 11, 12 and 13, are currently assisting police with inquiries,” the spokesperson said.

The QPS online crime map shows a property damage offence was reported on January 3, 2024.

A school employee reportedly attended the school to inspect damage on Thursday, January 4.

“I work at the primary school and had to attend … due to our fourth break-in/wilful damage since we went on holidays on the 8th December,” they said on social media.

The employee said they drove their vehicle into the school grounds and parked near the back of the school hall to assess the damage and meet with police.

“When I returned to my ute to leave I found it had been entered into unlawfully and I had my wallet stolen and some other property stolen out of it.

“I am absolutely disgusted that this could happen in broad daylight within the school grounds while I am at the school getting property fixed so it is ready for when our students return in a couple of weeks instead of enjoying my holidays with my family.”

Three incidents of theft have also been reported at the school over the past month according to the QPS crime map.

This comes only weeks after multiple cars were allegedly struck by rocks as they drove past the school on the night of December 16, 2023.

Queensland Police urge anyone with information to contact police.
