Rising Sunshine Coast boxing talent and former Noosa high school student Ben Cameron-Hands is ready to fight for an Australian title and further his undefeated professional record.

Cameron-Hands, who had over 90 amateur fights as a junior, will step into the ring at South Bank Piazza in Brisbane to fight current Australian champion Rocky Ogden for the Australian title at super featherweight on October 15, 2022.

The 22-year-old and former Noosa District State High School student, won on debut via a first round knockout and has since recorded three wins and zero losses.

“The fight came about two weeks after my last fight when a promoter approached my coach asking if we wanted the fight on the first matchroom card in Australia and there was no way we could turn it down,” he said.

“This has been the hardest camp to date prepping for a 10-round fight but I’m mentally and physically prepared.

“It’s the biggest fight of my career so far and I’m so keen to put on a show.”

Brother Sam Cameron-Hands also made his mark on the sport with a record of two wins and zero losses after making his professional debut in 2021.

Impact boxing head coach Mark Evans, who had been coaching Cameron-Hands since he was eight-years-old, said he was quietly confident ahead of the fight.

“I’m very proud, obviously he won multiple Australian titles as an amateur so to now be boxing in the professional ranks and after three fights to be going after the title is very exciting,” he said.

“We arrived in Brisbane last night after our final gym training session and both agreed that it had been the best training camp we’ve done.”

“We’ve been sparring with world class boxers such as Andrew and Jason Maloney and he’s holding his own with those two boys so I personally feel this is the best prepared and well focused he’s been in any of his fights.

“We’re in for a tough fight as our opponent is quite a heavy hitter and someone we need to be careful of but I think Benny’s skills will just out match him and we’re confident of bringing the belt home.”
