A seaside Chinese restaurant is up for grabs as the husband-wife want to leave North Queensland to move closer to their daughters.
The restaurant first came onto the market in 2024 when Tony Ming Zhong and Joyce Huang made the decision to retire.
Nine months later and the couple have announced their intention to sell the venue for $750k plus stock at value, hoping to move out of the area soon.
Handling the sale is business broker Dione Mauric who said at that price The Cove Restaurant offers “an excellent return on business for someone looking to get in on the business”.
“It’s one of the most popular restaurants in Bowen, frequented by locals and tourists, provides an exceptionally profitable opportunity for a new owner,” Ms Mauric said.
Included in the sale will be the fully outfitted restaurant, furnishings, inventory and “all the loyal customers”.
Ms Mauric said Mr Zhong and Ms Huang were looking for a buyer who was “passionate about the local area” and looking for the restaurateur lifestyle.
The Cove Restaurant is attached to Coral Cove Apartments and looks out on the blue waters of Horseshoe Bay.
The restaurant has previously been used as a venue for events and even weddings, with as many as 110 guests in attendance.
Ms Huang touted online reviews in 2024 calling them the best restaurant in Bowen and it has a google rating of 4.2 stars out of five at the time of writing.
A listing posted to advantage business sales by Ms Mauric said the restaurant and bar came full licensed and was “the ideal setting for sunset drinks and al fresco dining”.
Ms Huang previously called the restaurant “one of the iconic places”.
Also for sale in Bowen is the empty space where Bowen’s Red Rooster used to operate on Leichhardt St between Livingstone St and Johnstone St.
The 181 sqm space shares a shopping centre with a Subway franchise and is furnished with a basic fit-out and equipment from the old Red Rooster.
Linda Blake owned the business its grand opening on December 20, 2014 and she thanked the community for its support when they announced the closure in June 2024.
The empty space is priced at $250,000 and brokers Johnston Business Sales say it represents an “outstanding opportunity to convert a fully fitted out shop with over $400,000 worth of equipment”.
