New Tobacco shop

Tobacco station and gift shop TSG (Tobacco Station Group) officially opened across from Woolworths in Gympie Central Shopping Centre in August, 2021.

According to general manager Furendre (surname withheld), prior to the shop opening it was another tobacco station, but he could not recall the name. Before that Tramcars ran their outlet on the site.

The shop sells everything from gifts for all occasions to tobacco accessories.

On Location changes hands

Dedicated former On Location customer Desley Shailer took over the iconic boutique in Gympie’s CBD from previous long-term owner Judy Dakin.

Mrs Shailer used to frequent On Location Boutique when it was run by Mrs Dakin, but took the shop over on December 1, 2021.

Mrs Shailer said Mrs Dakin, who had owned the shop for the last 25 years, had told her about her plans to sell, and her motive behind purchasing the shop was her love for clothes and the clientele Mrs Dakin had worked hard to generate.

“I won’t be changing what Judy has built up in style, as in the styles and labels she carries, but we’ll be sort of bringing a few additional labels in,” she said.

Prior to taking over the boutique, Mrs Shailer owned and operated clothing warehouses in north Queensland, which catered for everyone from babies to adults.

The shop, located at 154 Mary St, will be relocated to 107 Mary St - next to Unearthed Streetwear.

Mrs Belling said it was “always in the business plan” to move Playback, and they had plans of expanding in the near future.
