Little H Cafe opening in Gympie’s Southside
They grew up in the Wide Bay. Now, a couple who ran an award-winning city pub are returning to the region to set up a new business.

He grew up in Gympie and she is a Maryborough girl.
Now, fresh from running a successful Brisbane pub, Peter and Rina Yenn are opening a new cafe in the heart of Gympie’s Southside.
Named after their young daughter, Harper, Little H Cafe on Exhibition Rd will be open by January 4, if everything goes to plan.
The pair said they were looking for workers to join the Little H Team and would be advertising jobs shortly after Christmas.
“We haven’t hired staff yet but we’ll be putting up advertisements very soon,” he promised.
They previously co-owned the Tottenham Pub in Brisbane which held the Best Cafe in Brisbane title for over a year.
After running it for six years, they sold to move back to Gympie, hoping to send their daughter to St Patrick’s College now that she’s old enough to attend school.
“I grew up here and did all my schooling at St. Pat’s. My family has lived here for the last 40 years,” he said.
Mrs Yenn will be running the coffee and Mr Yenn will be handling the registers and kitchen.
“I’m just excited to cook some good food for people,” he said.
Renovations started in late October and the pair have completely renovated the space.
The location of the cafe was previously a McIntosh Meats, MacDonald’s Meats and a Home Care supplies store.
“We’re bringing Genevese coffee, they’re the coffee we used in Brisbane and it’s just unreal. I’ve worked in the Industry for 15 years and it is the best coffee I’ve ever worked with,” he said.
