Golfers and novices of all ages across the Fraser Coast are picking up their putters and preparing to converge on Torquay as the region’s new mini golf course prepares to open.
The multimillion-dollar, 18-hole course is owned by the Hervey Bay RSL and is the first of three stages of redevelopment for the prime corner block which previously belonged to the late property tycoon Con Souvlis.
Stage Two will involve construction of 14 townhouses and Stage Three, a motel built in the same area.
While the official launch will be held this weekend, the course, at the corner of Bideford and Truro St is already open.
Customers had the opportunity to try out the course on Wednesday, and many were impressed by what they saw.
Miller, 10, is on holiday from Byron Bay and said playing mini golf “was very fun” and she and her family “had a great time”.
