The Hervey Bay motocross community is mourning the loss of one of its most beloved figures.
Tributes are flowing for Tim Roker, who tragically died earlier this month.
The life of the 61-year-old, who was a lifetime member and former president of the Hervey Bay Motocross Club, will be celebrated in a ceremony on Monday.
In their official tribute, the Hervey Bay Motocross Club expressed their profound sadness:
“It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to Life Member and Former President of the Hervey Bay Motocross Club, Tim Roker, who sadly passed away on July 21,” their statement read.
“Tim has been one of the biggest driving forces of this Club with his hard work, passion and countless hours helping to make the Club what it is today. We appreciate everything Tim has done for the Club over the years.
“Hervey Bay Motocross Club sends our sincere condolences to the Roker family. We will always remember all the good times, Timmy. RIP mate.”
Online tributes have poured in from the motocross community, with friends and fellow riders sharing their memories of Tim.
Bruce Cairns, who took the photograph of Tim featured in the club’s announcement, reflected on the significance of the image:
“I am so glad I took that photo now. Really good memory,” he said.
“Loved the times, the beers and laughs. Will miss you. You were a top bloke in my generation. My thoughts are with the family.”
The sentiment was echoed by many others in the community, with another tribute reading “devastating news”.
“Tim was such a kind and genuine man. The moto community will miss you. Such a top bloke taken too soon,” the tribute read.
He is survived by his wife Catherine and children, Krystal, Beau and Kyle.
The funeral service will be held at J Kirk & Sons Orana Chapel.
In a touching tribute to Tim’s passions, friends and family are invited to wear coloured ties representing his three greatest loves: red for Honda motorcycles, green for Kawasaki, and maroon for both the Brisbane Broncos and his beloved state of Queensland.
