Moreton’s top high schools for OP results have been revealed with students across the region scoring impressive results.
The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority today released the 2019 Year 12 results for more than 500 high schools across the state.
The results show 33.3 per cent of students at The Lakes College, North Lakes, received an OP between one and five, the highest proportion of high-end results in the area.

The Lakes College had a total of 7 students receive an OP between one and five, out of 21 students who got an OP score.
The Lakes College principal Simon Armstrong commended the students and said “working collaboratively with parents, our committed staff have been able to provide a true holistic education environment that ensures each student reaches their full potential”.
“Our excellence in teaching and learning practices are supported by various diverse mentoring, tutoring, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs that form the foundation for all students to succeed,” he said.
“While these are outstanding results, what we are most proud of is this cohort’s persistence, determination, honesty, compassion and community-mindedness and their ability to choose the hard over the easy.”
“It is these traits that give meaning to statistics, and it is these traits that underpin who our students are and who they will become.”
Across the region students at St Columban’s College, Caboolture, received the second highest ranking with 23.3 percent of students receiving OP scores between one and five.
St Columban’s College principal Mike Connolly said over the last few years the school had worked hard to change its culture towards focusing on academic excellence.
“The reason we are getting these results is because the students are becoming more connected with community - through not only sports, culture but also the arts and that has really paid off for us,” Mr Connolly said.
“We are really seeing them do well in their academic work but also in their chosen fields.”
“We always made a conscious effort to support the kids in doing their best at everything - not to be mediocre and to be proud of their achievements .... too often young people are happy just to pass but we have pushed the culture of being the very best you can be.
“We are really happy with the results. I am proud of seeing them stick with things and produce the results.”
Mr Connolly said a high percentage of students had enrolled in law, psychology, engineering and health industries.
Seven of the College’s 30 eligible students received a score between one and five.
Schools with fewer than 10 students who received an OP were not included in this analysis.
The 2019 student cohort will be the last class of Queensland students to receive an OP score, with the state moving Australian Tertiary Admissions Ranks from this year – in line with other states.
