UK celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is bringing his eponymous three Michelin-starred restaurant to Sydney for a three-night residency at Aria commencing May 8.

Restaurant Gordon Ramsay’s first residency outside London is “a dream come true” for Ramsay, who collaborated with long-term friend Matt Moran and chef-patron Matt Abe on the exclusive dinner series.

The seven-course menu, priced at $495 per person, will feature signature dishes from Restaurant Gordon Ramsay such as the shellfish raviolo and the pecan praline dessert.

But don’t expect Ramsay behind the pans: the kitchen will be helmed by Abe, who started his career as a 17-year-old in the kitchens at Sydney’s Aria. He has since risen up the ranks at Ramsay’s restaurant, where he was appointed chef-patron in 2015.

“I’m so excited to be heading back to the restaurant where my love for fine dining began,” Abe says. “It means so much to be coming home as the first and only three-star Australian chef.”

Restaurant Gordon Ramsay has employed a number of high-profile chefs throughout its 25-year history, including Clare Smyth, the UK’s first female three-star Michelin winner. Smyth’s restaurant Oncore by Clare Smyth recently received three hats in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2023.

Moran says the one-off restaurant collaboration at Aria is the culmination of 25 years of friendship with Ramsay. The pair worked together on a curated menu at Bea in Barangaroo House (closed in August 2022).

“What an absolute honour to have Restaurant Gordon Ramsay do their first residency outside London at Aria,” Moran says. “These three nights will be a real highlight in the 23 years of Aria; I can’t wait.”

A spokesperson for the event has revealed Ramsay will be in Australia for filming at the time, but cannot say whether he will make an appearance.

Dinner will be priced at $495 per person, with a premium wine pairing option for $295. Bookings for “Restaurant Gordon Ramsay Comes to Aria” go on sale at 9am on Thursday, April 13 at ariasydney.com.au.
