The Shortlist
Contemporary
This menu has a KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) sensibility, presenting a short selection of cafe classics that work just as well for breakfast, brunch or lunch, but judging by the weekend crowd of hipsters jostling for a stool on the footpath, it's a formula that works. While the baked beans with bocconcini and chorizo served with toasted sourdough soldiers isn't going to win any beauty prizes, its stick-to-the-ribs satisfaction and hint of chilli kick is hard to resist. A crisply toasted Infinity bakery baguette filled with thick slices of ham and gooey cheese also hits the spot. Pastries are from Black Star Pastry, and coffee from The Little Marionette is rich and smooth with caramel notes.
