The Oriental Hotel
17/20
Contemporary$$
The Oriental dishes up refreshing, surprising, splendid pub food that is really the best in the Blue Mountains. Salt-and-pepper prawns are delicately dusted with a touch of flour that has a bite to it and the prawns themselves are plump and perfectly cooked. Kashmiri chicken comes with pickles and pappadum, and the raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake is only surpassed by a plate of delicate mango, pistachio and fruity sorbet littered with toffee-coated fruit for crunch. The Oriental does Sunday breakfast and offers a seven-course degustation dinner for $140 per person with matching wines, and a deluxe degustation for $250.
