The Grumpy Baker

Contemporary

The name suggests something other than the airy, cheerful scene found at this popular bakery-cafe. The menu surprises, too, going beyond the usual bake-house offerings – not that we’d ever knock those back. Keep it simple with a sausage roll, or go for oven-baked omelette with mint and fetta, shakshuka, or corn fritters with smoky relish and prosciutto. Coffee or T2 tea goes down a treat with a house-baked sweet bite – a bite-sized danish scroll, perhaps? Take home a loaf or some homemade jam and you’ll consider Grumpy the new happy. Note: Thursday to Saturday dinners bust the Under $30 budget.
