Opening a shoebox-sized cafe tucked in behind the Lane Cove shopping drag with views of the car park might not seem like a great business proposition. Yet owner Jean Demirjian obviously knows what he's doing, because this place is hot, hot, hot. He knows his coffee too, having worked in some of Sydney's best known cafes, and his own locally roasted Story Espresso blend produces a satisfying caffe latte ($3) with caramel and vanilla notes. He's made a lot of a little with the white butcher tile decor, padded milk crate stools and basic food options from addictive sesame and pistachio snaps to avocado toast with goat's cheese.
