The Gymea's bistro is at the rear of this big modern hotel, overlooking a good-sized beer garden complete with odd-looking fountain. Food was served with a smile early in the dining session but as the bistro got busy, the smiles became rarer. However, the food was excellent; as well as some pub favourites such as chicken parmigiana, burgers and steaks and even nachos, there are inspired extras such as chicken pad Thai - tasty, filling and mildly spiced. A generously sized bruschetta made a great entree and from the whiteboard specials, a char-grilled chicken breast on roast potatoes with Dijon mustard cream sauce was just scrumptious.
