Babka
Russian$$
Part bakery, part cafe, and wholly lovable, Babka has consistently turned out top-notch pastries, cakes and loaves for over a decade. Intimate and cosy, with dark-wood panelling and marble and brass counters, Babka is always worth the wait. The Polish- and Russian-inspired menu covers breakfast, which could be blintzes drizzled with citrus syrup and stuffed with cottage cheese and sultanas. For lunch there's a range of pies (pumpkin, basil and tomato) and sandwiches (nise) supplementing two blackboard menus, which might tout buttery mushroom dumplings or soft salmon fishcakes aromatic with dill.
