Washington | US President Joe Biden has ordered an independent review of how a gunman armed with an assault-style rifle was able to get close enough to shoot and injure former president Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday (Sunday AEST), in a monumental failure of one of the agency’s core duties.
“I’ve directed an independent review by the National Security of yesterday’s rally to assess exactly what happened, and we’ll share the results of that independent review with the American people,” Mr Biden said from the White House on Sunday (Monday AEST).
