RBA governor Michele Bullock predicts that cash may disappear within a decade (“Cash may be gone in a decade: Bullock”), emphasising its long-term decline due to the efficiency of electronic payments and the rising costs of handling physical money. This is a good thing.

Australia should welcome a fully cashless economy to curb illegal activities and enhance tax collection.
