Last Thursday, Donald Trump said he would make a decision about the United States joining Israel’s air strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities “within the next two weeks”. In the end, he waited just three days before launching Sunday’s surprise B-2 Spirit stealth bomber attack on three nuclear sites in Iran.
It’s another example of Trump’s erratic style that is not ideal from the leader of the free world. The president was seemingly weighing up the domestic response from the isolationist wing of his America First base if the US became involved in the Iran-Israel conflict.
