Pro-Palestinian protests to go ahead after police back down
A demonstration against Israel’s conduct of the war in the Middle East will go ahead in Sydney on Sunday after NSW Police and organisers struck a deal on a changed route, despite authorities earlier seeking to ban the gathering and warning it could trigger sectarian violence.
Police took the organisers to the NSW Supreme Court on Thursday opposing their application for two events marking one year since the October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel – a march and rally on Sunday and a vigil on Monday.
