London | Matildas captain Sam Kerr has told a London court how racist incidents in her Perth childhood, and the long shadow of the Claremont serial killer, helped explain why she called a police officer “f---ing stupid and white”.

Ms Kerr, the talisman striker of English soccer club Chelsea, is on trial for racially aggravated harassment of constable Stephen Lovell in the early hours of January 31, 2023, at a south London police station. She has pleaded not guilty to the charge, which can incur a prison sentence.
