Signs from Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong that he could delay plans to hand over power has prompted speculation voters will need extra reassurance if his People's Action Party (PAP) holds on to its super majority in Friday's general election.
"I am determined to hand over Singapore intact and in good working order to the next team," said Mr Lee, son of Singapore's founding prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, during a PAP online rally on Monday. He also described the coronavirus pandemic as the "crisis of a generation".
