Kishida leads Japan’s ruling coalition to solid election win
Tokyo | Japan’s prime minister Fumio Kishida has led the country’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) to a stronger-than-expected election win, after he offered a stable government and promised to revive the world’s third-largest economy.
Mr Kishida, who was head of the government for only three weeks before Sunday’s election, said he was grateful for the public mandate, which would allow the LDP to control the country’s lower house of parliament even without the support of its coalition partner, Komeito.
