The most important IR change the next government will make

The winner of the federal election will get the rare opportunity to have an outsized influence on industrial relations for decades – including the minimum wage and bargaining – by appointing the next head of the Fair Work Commission.

Current FWC president Justice Adam Hatcher will soon reach his mandatory retirement age of 65, meaning an elected Labor or Liberal government will appoint his successor.
