Doubts have been raised about the incident that union leader John Setka has cited to justify his campaign to unseat AFL umpiring chief Stephen McBurney.

In his push to justify his vendetta, Setka made the extraordinary accusation that McBurney, a former Australian Building and Construction Commissioner, had pursued the union for holding a one-minute silence over the West Gate Bridge collapse.
