Labor denies Setka’s claim of secret deal not to take over CFMEU
Workplace Relations Minister Murray Watt has dismissed John Setka’s claims that the Albanese government made a deal to not put his union into administration if the former CFMEU boss quit, saying that was “absolutely fanciful”.
The CFMEU Victorian secretary resigned on July 12, a day before the publication of Nine newspapers’ investigation into the CFMEU. He told Channel 7’s Spotlight program on Sunday night that the claims of bikie infiltration and corruption were “a lot of mistruths, a lot of bullshit”.
