Queensland’s new Crisafulli government is taking on powerful construction unions with a plan to ditch entitlements on projects that include giving workers a month of rostered days off each year and provide for double-time pay if it’s raining.
The temporary change would apply to new government projects yet to begin construction ahead of a review of the conditions and would save more than $17 billion dollars by 2030 in costs on big builds, according to Treasury modelling.
