New laws could stop bosses using AI to set rosters, techies warn

Technology developers and online platforms have raised the alarm over national-first laws to regulate the use of artificial intelligence, warning they risk limiting businesses from taking up new technologies.

Tech Council of Australia, whose members include Google, Uber, Atlassian and OpenAI, on Thursday said the NSW government’s Digital Work Systems Bill raised “serious issues for tech innovators and developers” due to its broad scope and union powers to lift the hood on AI, algorithms, automation and online platforms.
