The first multi-employer agreement to be reached under Labor’s new laws has sparked a union turf war and claims that the new bargaining regime deprives workers of a role in negotiations.

Air-conditioning manufacturers allege that the plumbers’ union is pressuring firms not to sign up to the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union’s landmark multi-employer agreement for the sector, approved in June, and instead are demanding they sign enterprise agreements with them.
