Labor accused of ‘ramming through’ right to disconnect

Business and the Senate crossbench have ramped up concerns over Labor’s deal with the Greens to give workers a right to disconnect from their boss outside work hours, accusing the Albanese government of seeking to ram through laws that will affect the entire workforce without consultation.

In a Senate inquiry report released on Thursday into the Albanese government’s latest industrial relations bill, Labor senators backed including a right to disconnect in the bill after citing “broad agreement” that it was needed to protect employees’ work-life balance.
