Forget US-style racketeering laws, a restored ABCC can clean up CFMEU

The tools needed are police access to coercive powers and reestablishing the Australian Building and Construction Commission.

The joint investigation by 60 Minutes and Nine newspapers reveals yet another case of CFMEU and bikie misconduct on government projects.

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has announced that a Coalition government would introduce legislation based on US-style racketeering laws called Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations (RICO), which permits criminal penalties and civil action against individuals involved in organised crime and white-collar crime.
