White-collar employers including Block and CSL are increasingly trying to keep staff happy and build more skilled teams by offering more opportunities to switch jobs internally.

The share of Australian employers commonly using internal secondment and rotation programs increased from 3 per cent in 2020 to 7 per cent in 2024, a Mercer survey of 364 organisations shows, as companies redirect their attention from hiring new staff to getting the most out of those they have.
