lmost 23,000 Australians are estimated to have been laid off in reported redundancy rounds this year, as companies respond to rising interest rates and stubbornly high inflation.
A previous version of this article stated that 22,812 workers across 331 companies had been laid off in mass redundancy rounds reported to Services Australia this year. In fact, 331 companies have reported plans to make 22,812 positions redundant. The article was also edited to clarify that these figures only refer to redundancies reported to Services Australia; the total number of actual redundancies in Australia has been much higher.
