CFMEU deals put union in bed with bikies and the underworld
An investigation reveals the relationships that have vaulted companies with links to criminals into favoured positions on the nation’s building sites.
A major investigation by The Australian Financial Review, 60 Minutes, The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald has uncovered fresh cases involving building industry companies with deep underworld links, including several that have secured crucial backing from the CFMEU.
The investigation, part of the ongoing Building Bad series, has also found new links between bikies and the union – CFMEU organisers instructed construction industry firms to employ senior bikies as delegates as recently as earlier this year.
