CFMEU administrator sued over union official’s demotion

The CFMEU administrator is personally facing legal action over his dumping of a senior union official in response to a sudden membership drop, in what could open up a new front to test the limits of his powers.

CFMEU ACT assistant secretary Michael Hiscox last week launched Federal Court action against Mark Irving KC and his deputy, Michael Flinn, alleging they took unlawful adverse action against him for exercising his rights, such as opposition to internal union changes.
