AWU leader and Labor shining light to pursue private sector career
Australian Workers Union national secretary Daniel Walton will step down from his role as head of the Labor-linked union to pursue a career in the private sector rather than politics.
Mr Walton, who had been seen by some as a future leader of the Labor Party, announced the surprise resignation on Tuesday after almost seven years at the helm. He will stay for the next couple of months to help the handover and oversee the leadership transition.
