Bendigo & Adelaide Bank managing director Marnie Baker says growing up on a dairy farm more than three hours’ drive from Melbourne made her resourceful, resilient and able to sniff out a fake at 50 paces.

“There is a bullshit barometer that country people have,” Baker says. “[Sometimes] people aren’t necessarily authentic and aren’t as deep in their knowledge as what they profess to have. A lot of country people can see through that.”
