‘No need for ESG any more’: Business doubles down on bottom line

Corporate leaders say they are not walking away from their environmental, social and governance targets but have returned their focus to risk management and the bottom line as economic and political uncertainty roil the business environment.

A backlash against corporate ESG efforts led by companies in the US and Europe after the election of Donald Trump in January has been held off in Australia following Labor’s landslide re-election in May, although many companies have backed away from bold declarations of their commitments.
