WiseTech shareholders just one cheeseburger away from the void

He might’ve spent the 1970s as a roadie to Aussie rock bands, but WiseTech billionaire Richard White has these last few months treated us to his own stadium tour of pyrotechnics. And truthfully, who among you can look away?

After agreeing in October to step down as WiseTech’s CEO in response to a barrage of sensational revelations about his personal behaviour, all triggered by his attempt to bankrupt a secret lover over a $90,000 furniture bill, White returned last week to blow the whole show sky-high. He forced the mass resignation of the board’s four independent directors (effectively defanging a board-led investigation into his conduct), installed himself as executive chairman, then fronted the company’s first-half results that very morning.
