Thick-skinned Moult works to change Yancoal’s stripes

It takes a thick skin to serve the thermal coal industry in these carbon-conscious times, but Yancoal chief executive David Moult is no stranger to hostile politics in the workplace.

Having started in the coal mines of his native England at16, Moult had risen to become a junior manager in the Nottinghamshire collieries by the time mining unions launched one of Britain’s most bitter industrial disputes against Margaret Thatcher’s government in 1984.
