How this executive stays sharp after 20 years as CEO
NIB chief Mark Fitzgibbon says the secret to keeping on top is to remain open to challenge and debate.
This month Mark Fitzgibbon reached a rare milestone in corporate Australia. The chief executive of NIB, a $3 billion health insurer, has been in the role for 20 years, about four times the average for an Australian listed company CEO.
There is no gold watch in sight, although Fitzgibbon was taken out for dinner by the board (at the Public Dining Room in the Sydney harbourside suburb of Balmoral) and he took fellow NIB employees in the 20-year plus club for lunch (at Scratchleys, a seafood restaurant in Newcastle).
