From selling vacuum cleaners to running Booking.com in Australia at 33

Tod Lacey is one of the 2024 BOSS Young Executives. His first proper job was selling vacuum cleaners at a department store in Dunedin on New Zealand’s South Island.

New Zealand-born Todd Lacey, regional manager for Oceania at online accommodation company Booking.com, went to university in Dunedin on the country’s South Island. He completed a bachelor’s degree in commerce, business management and marketing at the University of Otago before undertaking a master’s in entrepreneurship.

Todd Lacey says working as a vacuum cleaner salesman taught him “how to connect, and how to sell to people of all different backgrounds and types”. Louise Kennerley
