Boys not only struggle to keep up with their female peers in reading and writing but fall further behind as they grow older. By year 9 the gap in writing skills is so profound that more than 20 per cent of boys do not meet the national minimum standard.

The 2022 National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) reveals boys are in a world of trouble, especially when they reach high school.
