Parents opting to send their child to a private school should plan to spend almost double the tuition fees, thanks to extra costs from things such as digital devices, musical instruments, sports gear, camps and uniforms, new research shows.

Sydney is by far the most expensive city for a private school education, but Queensland tops the list for Catholic schooling and Victoria for government schools, according to analysis by Futurity Investment Group.
