Jewish group rejects calls for Sydney Uni’s Scott to resign
Jewish organisations are split over calls for Sydney University boss Mark Scott to resign, with the largest and most influential lobby group arguing his apology has paved the way for meaningful changes in how the university addresses antisemitism.
Peter Wertheim, co-chief executive of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, an 80-year old umbrella group of more than 200 Jewish organisations, said cultural change would not flow from “a change at the top” and that the university should adopt five procedural changes to prevent a repeat of Jewish students being targeted on campus.
