Sydney University boss Mark Scott admits he failed Jewish students
Sydney University chief Mark Scott on Friday apologised to Jewish students for the “searing” antisemitism they experienced on campus and admitted for the first time that he and the university had failed to keep them safe.
Professor Scott’s apology came as he and six other vice chancellors and other sector leaders appeared before a Senate inquiry into whether anti-Jewish sentiment was allowed to fester on their campuses and erupt in response to Israel’s military action in Gaza.
