Got a degree? That may no longer be enough to get a job

It may not be long before, in addition to a degree, employers will want evidence that potential recruits have acquired additional skills in specific areas, whether it be in project management, organisational change, critical thinking or cyber risk.

Anyone thinking that a tertiary degree will continue to be the ticket to land a well-paid job might need to think again.

Amanda Fritz, director of education innovation and enterprise at University of Western Australia (UWA), believes it may not be long before, in addition to a degree, employers will want evidence that potential recruits have acquired additional skills in specific areas, whether it be in project management, organisational change, critical thinking, or cyber risk.
